Here is a link to a interesting article from the New York Times that discusses innovations produced by the market for new products for our aging population.  It discusses an Age Gain Now Empathy System (Agnes) developed at MIT.  Agnes is a suit, that anyone can put on, that simulates the dexterity, mobility, strength and balance of a 74-year-old.  Agnes is designed to help product designer and marketers better understand older adults and create innovative products for them.
